The All-on-4 implants treatment model is characterised as an arch of teeth that is secured in place with 4 implants, as opposed to individual implants for each new replacement tooth. But how is it possible to do this with so few implants, you might ask? Great question.
Using CBCT scanning technology, we’re able to make a comprehensive study of your jawbone, pinpointing exactly where you have enough bone density to support an implant. Once identified, these sites at which you have enough jawbone are where the implants are placed, at very precise angles.
Once the implants have healed, a bespoke set of natural-looking teeth can be screwed into the implants. Thanks to the outstanding stability of the implants, the false teeth are robust, withstanding the biting forces you exert, every single day.
Is it really possible to have a new set of teeth in just one appointment?
Yes. As we place a temporary set of teeth once the implants have been surgically placed into the jaw, you can leave the practice with a set of teeth that are completely functional. It should take around 3 – 6 months for your jaw to heal, after which you will be ready for your permanent set of teeth.
How does All-on-4 protect my jawbone from reducing in size and volume?
All implant-based treatments create a union between the implant and the jawbone. Implants are replacement tooth roots, and once implanted into the jaw, they encourage the tissues and bone in the jaw to attach around them. As a result, the jaw is tricked into thinking it has genuine stimulation, from a genuine tooth root!
With good care, your implant can be a permanent solution to tooth loss.
How will my new set of teeth change my appearance?
Without gaps in your teeth, you will have a more youthful appearance and aesthetically pleasing smile. But replacing missing teeth with implants has a second aesthetic advantage. With your jawbone in good health (thanks to the presence of the implants), your face’s supporting structures won’t begin to sag and appear gaunt. Such aesthetic problems are common in people with multiple missing teeth, and in those with non-implant-supported prostheses, like traditional dentures.
